Small acrylic abstract "Doesn't Seem to be a Shadow" by Lynne Cunningham

"Doesn't Seem to be  a Shadow", acrylic on panel
11" x 14"
completed May, 2013
$ 75.
shipping cost is included

"Doesn't Seem to be a Shadow" is a little abstract in acrylic paints on archival panel.  I love working on these little compositions and trying to get a 'big painting' look in a small piece; lots of texture and varied color and layers.  This is sized to fit a standard sized frame.

These small paintings will be shown at the Jack London Square Artists, participating in East Bay Open Studios.  Our popup show of 45 artists at the former Barnes and Noble location at Jack London Square in Oakland, CA will be open the first two weekends in June. Our website :    http://www.artrospection.com/

The painting is signed and dated on the back, and when shipped it's protected with foamcore, packaged within a protective plastic sleeve.  Please contact me   here for comments or questions

"Fields of Joy, version three", abstract painting by Lynne Cunningham

"Fields of Joy (three)", oil on canvas
20" x 20"
completed April 10th, 2013
$650 including shipping
(Calif. residents pay sales tax)

"Fields of Joy, version three", is the third in this series of paintings.  I live in a neighborhood surrounded by safflower fields, alfalfa fields and plowed up areas waiting for summer seeding.  In the spring, the winter wheat is ready to harvest and has a viridian green to acid green color. . . so we have origins for the name of this painting and the inspiration for the color palette.

And if you'd like to see more abstracts, see the  abstract  gallery    h e r e   on my website.  I have two summer group shows coming up that I'm getting ready for!  Lots of anticipation!  I'm offering them here, at this price.  Shipping is included.

"Port of Oakland", abstract oil on canvas painting, Lynne Cunningham

"Port of Oakland", oil on canvas
24" x 36"
completed 3/28/13

$1600.

In the process of painting this one  I had the sensation I was painting something from my memory!  When I lived in the East Bay I saw the Port of Oakland often during daily commutes.   It's a fascinating, very industrial scene at the base of the Bay Bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area.  In the middle of the painting process which took time over several days, the words "Port of Oakland" flashed in my mind ~ the working title of the painting became the final name for the painting. Here is the finished, "Port of Oakland" , 24" x 36", oil paint on canvas with an underdrawing in charcoal.

Please contact me here  for questions or to purchase; this painting is planned for an early summer group show.

"Marcher dans le Jardin", oil painting by Lynne Cunningham

"Marcher dans le Jardin", 16" x 20"
oil on canvas
completed March 27, 2013

update 6/17/13:  this painting is on reserve;
use contact email below for availability

This painting was just signed and completed!  I have a lot of paintings with the idea of 'path' or 'walk', so today, I'm titling my painting  in French.  I don't speak it, but it's a nice variation for the title. A visitor to a gallery where I show my work told the gallery owner that I have an 'abstract impressionist' style.  That was an interesting and well-phrased comment - I agree with that description!

The photo (above) was taken in early morning sunlight to show the texture; the alternate image below shows the painting without the texture highlighted.

"Floral Chroma", mixed media large painting by Lynne Cunningham

"Floral Chroma", mixed media on canvas
acrylic, acrylic ink, oil paints and oil pastel
24" x 30"
completed March 4, 2013
$1200.  plus shipping
(Calif. residents pay sales tax)

"Floral Chroma" began with an idea of a floral abstract and I set out an acrylic color palette.  Painting in acrylic on canvas allows me to paint very loose on canvas which I love!  The highly pigmented underlayer in
acrylic began in impressionist brushstrokes, and some thinned acrylic for light lines to establish the composition.  Areas of acrylic inks were then painted, with oil paints later and some further marks in oil pastel.  I love those oil pastels from Sennelier; I was introduced to them years ago in a demo held for the Napa Valley Artists by Savoir Faire, an art materials distributor in Northern California.

This painting is destined for a spring-themed group show in a local gallery.  There has already been interest in it, however if you'd like to purchase a similar painting, please contact            me H E R E

I do take commissions and a similar painting can be yours!    I estimate shipping costs within the U.S. would be around $75. and would be by FedEx Ground.

I'm focusing on abstracts and abstracted landscapes for 2013; a new season of spring, the time of growth and I'm doing new work.

"Fields of Joy (version two)", abstract oil painting by Lynne Cunningham

"Fields of Joy (version two)", oil on canvas
20" x 16"
completed March 3, 2013
$350. - including shipping
(Calif. residents pay sales tax)

"Fields of Joy (version two)" is a painting that was inspired by the first.   Working in series is good practice or a good habit to get into as an artist, and I can see changing or tweaking the concept from these first two.  These are inspired by my post-modern era roots in southern California, Mondrian and other inspirations!  Modernism is back and I'm enjoying it.

I live in a neighborhood surrounded by safflower fields, alfalfa fields and right now,  winter wheat.  In the summer the sunflowers are everywhere . . . so there you have the origins for the name of this painting.

"At the Pond", abstract botanical by Lynne Cunningham

"At the Pond", acrylic on paper
15" x 22"
completed Mar. 1, 2013
$275. - including shipping

My fascination with abstract botanicals and paintings inspired by ponds continues!  It's good to have themes that I return to and this is a theme I've re-visited many times.  The tangle and shapes of pond vegetation inspired the design of this painting.  I paint my acrylic paintings to the edge of the gessoed, deckle-edge paper so the painting can be float-framed.  If you need an idea of how that appears, please

email  me H E R E

This painting is shipped matted, with a foamcore backing board and plastic.  Shipping is via FedEx Ground and is included in the cost.  I'm focusing on abstracts and abstracted landscapes for 2013; a new season of spring, the time of growth and I'm doing new work.

new abstract oil painting "City Vernacular", by Lynne Cunningham

"City Vernacular", oil on canvas
20" x 16"
completed Feb. 9, 2013
$275. - including shipping
(Calif. residents pay sales tax)

This painting began as a charcoal sketch on canvas, then I came in with washy large areas of the black and   vermillion colors.  I love the color palette in this one, I could use it in a series and continue on using this palette for 20 more paintings!  Black, vermillion, ochre, cerulean and white.  I mix my own black - the tubed black oil paints are too cold and black in color. . . it does make a difference. I use archival paints and processes. On gallery wrap canvas, signed and ready to hang.  The title could also be "City-speak", reminds me of forms of the city.
