"Oye Como Va", brilliant abstract by Lynne Cunningham

"Oye Como Va, version two"
20" x 20" on deep canvas

acrylic paint, acrylic ink and oil paints

completed July, 2013

available

$ 600.
includes shipping, U.S.A. and Canada

This painting is the second version of 'Oye Como Va' , or "hear how it goes".  I loved how this painting evolved while beginning it in acrylic and acrylic inks, then finishing with some layers of oil paint- - - it is NOT my usual color palette!  This painting will be shown, along with quite a few others for a group gallery show in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area.  I'm offering it here now, before the show in mid-August.

The painting is on stretched canvas and is 1 1/2" in depth with finished sides; the sides are painted in a neutral gray.  It's wired and ready to hang.  California residents pay 8% in sales tax in addition.

Please contact me   H E R E   for questions, international shipping, comments or to purchase this painting with a credit card.

I'm working on a series of 20" squares, and seeing where this series takes me!  This painting with neon color and large shapes against the background is simple but striking.  The painting is on stretched canvas and is
1 1/2" in depth with finished sides; the sides are painted in a neutral gray.  It's wired and ready to hang.

"Running Up the Stairs", abstract oil painting by Lynne Cunningham

"Running Up the Stairs", 16" x 12"
oil on canvas

available

$ 285.  including shipping
U.S.A. and Canada

I love cityscapes !   I created this painting a while back, with oil paints on canvas with a palette knife.  I so enjoyed working out the design for this painting.  Somehow the color palette is not overly saturated but colorful - it's the complementary colors in this palette, and it makes the warm colors pop!

The painting is finished on the sides, wired and ready to hang.  It is signed on the front and the back.  It's shipped, protected and cushioned in plastic wrap, and double-boxed .  California residents add 8% to the price shown above.

To purchase the painting, a Paypal receipt is emailed to you for approval; the transaction is completed with a credit card and you don't even need a Paypal account.  Contact me      H E R E  to purchase

"It'll Be Alright" (sold) acrylic abstract by Lynne Cunningham

(Despite the Heat) "It'll Be Alright", 11" x 15"
acrylic on paper

sold;

a similar painting may be commissioned

A new artist friend recently bought this painting! no better compliment than that.  It was a very hot day when she bought it from me so the title certainly fit!

This abstract cityscape painting developed over a couple of month and I finished it recently in my studio. The shapes and forms of cities are always inspiring for me, and I like to think about distant views, playing with the perspective and how to paint shapes that are abstract yet reminiscent of a city.

A similar painting may be commissioned.  A view of how the painting looked, framed, is below; it always helps enhance a painting to show it framed!

For questions on commissioning a painting like this, either larger, smaller or in a different color palette, and for pricing please contact me by email

"Evening in the City", small abstract oil painting by Lynne Cunningham

"Evening in the City", 9" x 12"
oil on panel

 available

This is one of the few from "Summer in the City" series that I haven't posted.  You can see the thick impasto textured paint in this and the color looks even better in person! The name definitely fits this abstract cityscape. I have an online Flickr album of the 16 paintings in this series - - please take a look at the link to see more  Summer in the City series

I wrapped up the artshow at Jack London Square in Oakland, and have the possibility for another San Francisco Bay Area show!  Lots of art-related things happening at the moment.

This painting is painted on archival panel with oil paints; it's available unframed and ready to be framed in a standard sized frame.  The painting is shipped with foamcore, protected in a plastic sleeve.  It is signed and titled on the back of the painting. mixed media abstract painting "City Vernacular (version two)" by Lynne Cunningham

$650.  available

shipping is $35. additional, U.S.A. and Canada

This painting began in acrylic on canvas, and the major portion of it was painted in oils. I was a little distracted while painting this over the weekend and all I remember is beginning on the underpainting of acrylic , painting in oils to finish with both palette knife and brushwork.  The big decision at the end is:  "is it finished", meanwhile keeping the painting from becoming too overworked.  I think I got it!

This is on deep canvas, 2", gallery wrap with the edges painted neutral gray; it's ready to hang.

"Port of Oakland", abstract oil on canvas painting, Lynne Cunningham

"Port of Oakland", oil on canvas
24" x 36"
completed 3/28/13

$1600.

In the process of painting this one  I had the sensation I was painting something from my memory!  When I lived in the East Bay I saw the Port of Oakland often during daily commutes.   It's a fascinating, very industrial scene at the base of the Bay Bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area.  In the middle of the painting process which took time over several days, the words "Port of Oakland" flashed in my mind ~ the working title of the painting became the final name for the painting. Here is the finished, "Port of Oakland" , 24" x 36", oil paint on canvas with an underdrawing in charcoal.

Please contact me here  for questions or to purchase; this painting is planned for an early summer group show.
