Amidst the turmoil, brave knights and noblewomen forged bonds that transcended the chaos of war. As armies clashed on the fields, whispered promises of loyalty and devotion echoed through the ranks, fueling the courage of those who fought not just for territory, but for the hearts of their beloved. In the shadows of castle walls, secret meetings blossomed into passionate romances, reminding warriors that even in the face of conquest, love was the ultimate prize worth defending.

Mixed Media Vertical Painting "A Walk in the Woods III" by Carol Nelson

 This little collage (15"x6") was just me messing around in my studio. I call it Walk in the Woods III. (Click to see whole painting). When I was growing up, we had a cabin on a lake (almost everyone had a cabin on a lake in Minnesota). My mom and I would often take a walk around the lake - maybe 2 miles. There was barely a path in some areas, swampy in areas, a gravel road in others, and heavily wooded. I remember the smell of damp earth, mosses, mushrooms, ferns, butterflies, birds, ducks, and all manner of green plants. This collection of collage materials from my stash brings to mind some of those cabin memories.
