Shell Fantasy 2...Abstract...Watercolor...Texas Artist Rae Andrews

Although this image SOLD many years ago, it was always a favorite of mine. 

I did it when I lived on Maui, so the tropical influence was with me for certain.

It is a watercolor on a watercolor board.. and was done in the days I frequently used a lot of divisional backgrounds. 

Somehow this type of painting still holds up today. I still use this technique at times and still love doing it. It makes the artist really think.

Tropical Confusion...Pastel...Texas Artist ...Rae Andrews

This is a full sheet sized pastel on velour paper (unframed).

Velour is a wonderful surface for the pastel artist, I LOVE working on it. The colors just glow and the pastel glides over the surface so beautifully.

I am essentially a COLORIST and not a REALIST painter, and I love to distort depth with 'up close and personal' paintings, taking my viewer 'into' the subject.

Ethereal Koi ...Acrylic...Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

                                 ETHEREAL KOI 2 is a large acrylic on gallery wrap canvas.
I love color and movement in my paintings, the subject is irrelevant to me really.

As I 'veiled' a lot of acrylic colors over the underneath colors, I began to 'feel' the fish in this painting, so away I went.
I hope you like this one.
