LADIES SINGING THE BLUES by Tim Lincoln

16"x20"

Abstract and cubist oil painting of women singing…but that’s debatable.

You were probably thinking Diana Ross? Not even close .Both women had a little talent but after much serious introspection, neither realized they would ever see the lights of Broadway. Myrna’s baritone was a bit jarring and Gloria’s high notes created such an abrasive mix, many tenets started complaining that their abode sounded like a breeding salon for stray cats. ”Singing the blues” was not just a title of a song but was a tragic reality.

To make a bit of cash they would book at seedy lounges where “Live Music” would give these dives a bit of class. They finally found a bungalow outside Queens that was far enough away as not to disturbe the urban population. The one blessing is that Myrna’s aunt died and having no relatives left , or who would speak to her ,she inherited enough money that they both could live without working indefinitely .Aunt Myrna was their only family who without fail, would invite themselves out for her Birthday. Aunt Myrna, not the impious type, would graciously sit while they played and sang a duo. Thank God she still had some Morphine left. Now they sip on Martinis all day and sing. Both are constantly going into this diatribe about “Practice Makes Perfect”, but after 50 years it’s time to reconsider some fictitious dream and start spending some of that cash

Leslie And Her Cats by Tim Lincoln

 14"x18"

Leslie collects cats. Every time, I’m over there working, one will jump out behind a pot.

It almost reminds me of that Hitchcock movie “The Birds”; although they are not attacking me .I asked if I could do a painting of her holding Boots.

She is an extremely kind and generous woman and basically lets me use my own discretion in her garden. She has tons of cat wall planters, sconces and there are also ceramic cats everywhere. This is basically an abstract and cubist style painting. If I don’t sell it by Christmas, I will give it to her as a gift.

The Tired Woman by Tim Lincoln

This is a cubist painting I did from a photo I took from a client preparing Christmas dinner. She looked overwhelmed and I wanted to capture that look .Ironically, cubism hit its popular venue during the industrial age where machines were starting to replace outdated methods of production. This was at the turn of the 20^th century and famous artist like Cezanne, Picasso .Leger, and Braque started the movement .I would be fascinated to see their reactions to what has transpired since then. I wonder how they would paint a Blackberry or even a cell phone or turn on a blender? Art changes with the environment and yet they are cohesive.

It’s on a gallery wrap canvas using two colors. Deep Yellow and red umber with grey and black.

abstract and neo-geometric cubism

Magdalena's daughter has finally found her paradise in Mentawai in Indonesia.Surf all day,eat the wonderful fresh fish and fruit but her biggest prize was the surfer she was screwing in Carmel. He had developed a strain of cannabis that was 30% THC and was delivering it to all the medical marijuana shops in Carmel. They will never need money.Unfortunately,Magdalena has a really violent streak so don't be surprised if a blond surfer's head ends up on the beach in the next tsunami..She's a very vindictive woman. That last Marine she was doing had a very tragic ending.A dumpster diver found in the back dumpster his severed head in a Family pack box from KFC.The Colonel wouldn't be pleased. vibrant colors, oranges, reds, greens, blues.

This photograph was not good. There is no bluring of the sky or any of the colors. The hues are not diluted much.My final phase of painting after building it up is pure colors diluted only with pure linseed.

This is an abstract cubist nude of Sonia who works at a rather questionable establishment in East Berlin. It seems there will never be any hope of living a fulfilled life but the cheap burgundy seems to lift what spirit she has left. It's better than the Russian Vodka that taste like refined petrol.
Just waiting for her Prince Charming which may end up being the Russian Corporal who smells like rotten potatoes. In fact this whole establishment smells like rotten potatoes
