This watery abstract painting began in acrylic on panel, and when I switched back to oils it seemed the right paint to finish it.  The painting is evocative of the blues, greens and reflections of the Pacific Ocean, then plunging to the underwater depths and rock formations of the ocean floor .

The painting is on archival panel, ready to frame in a standard sized frame.

This is a recent large acrylic on paper painting of mine;  a celestial abstract, or a watery abstract!  I decided on the title 'Oceania' because of the beautiful cerulean blue being reminiscent of the oceans.  This painting has a lot of texture and subtleties in the smaller areas of the painting.  Hope you enjoy this!

This painting is shipped protected with foamcore, ready for your matting and framing.  Below is a view of how I usually frame acrylic on paper paintings, in a contemporary wood frame with wide white mat  - this is a preview of the appearance when framed.

The atmospheric, moody marshes that surround the region where I live are a place of beauty and big skies.  I love the big shapes, watery channels and horizons of the marshes of the North Bay, San Francisco Bay Area.  This painting is matted in a white mat, with blond natural wood frame. This painting is another in a series of abstract waterscapes ; the series began in August of 2010! There are subjects I return to repeatedly for the inspiration.   I'm always attracted to water, the flow and patterns created by it.  

When painting spontaneously in my studio recently (no photo references; just paint, canvas and imagination), the painting emerged looking like an underwater garden, a tidepool.  This was a fascinating painting in the few stages it underwent to paint and see the idea emerge. I wrote about the process   h e r e  while in the middle of painting several works .
