Palette Knife Painting

Image looking up in the sky with the wind whipping around, trees blowing and a storm coming in. That is what I imagined when I painted this contemporary abstract. I blended the colors in the background, using wide brushes. The leaves and trees were laid in with thick layers so that there is texture on the linen. This contemporary abstract painting sold Adieb Khadoure Fine Art in Santa Fe yesterday! The annual Indian Market is happening, and Santa Fe is full of collectors, artists and vacationers. I wish that I was there, escaping the Texas heat and soaking up the New Mexico art galleries and landscape. I hope to be finishing up a commission today, and starting some new paintings. This contemporary oil painting might be finished. Viewer John Kazlauskas suggested "Transfusion" for the title, and I think it fits. It is hard to see the texture and the paint built up on the canvas by the photograph. I managed to take it outside and photograph, then hang it pretty high in the studio...needs to get some drying time. I used several brushes, palette knives and scrapers to spread the paint. It has gone through alot of changes...I will let you know if I work on any changes. Thanks for viewing this blog!!

Abstract on my easel...by Kay Wyne

This 48" x 72" Gallery Wrap Canvas has loads of paint on it. I am not finished, but needed to give it a rest and let the paints firm up. I hung it at the studio yesterday, and will be able to view it from a distance. More painting to be done, but I do have a good start. Needs a title...any suggestions???
