I have been bragging all over the internet: I won Best in Show for the Hawaii Watercolor Society Spring 2020 show.  Of course, COVID19 forced us to have an online show only; however, I invite you to www.hawaiiwatercolorsociety.org to see the accepted images and the award winners.  AND, you may also purchase if you see something you like.  Arlene G. Anthuriums, Hawaii Artist Arlene G. Woo

I pulled out some hand-dyed collage papers to create this deconstructed anthurium image. I haven't done collage in a while, so I had fun.  Even got my young granddaughter to make her own collage of fireworks.  Contact me: Arlene G. Woo

Watercolor Mountains "Mountains of the Mind" Hawaii artist Arlene G. Woo

The Koolaus are in the middle of Oahu and are a challenge to paint.  Sometimes we make things more difficult in our minds, too, than they need to be; there is beauty there, too.  This image is vivid with color.  11x14". $250 unmatted, unframed

Watercolor "Abstract Koi" Hawaii artist Arlene G. Woo

I focused on the red from the koi and created rich dark contrasts.  The water in ponds is often very dark.  Check out some of my other koi paintings.

Watercolor, Limpopo, Hawaii Artist, Arlene G. Woo

As you may know, many people in Hawaii love Koi.  For some reason I am mesmerized by them.  Anyway, I have been selected as Artist of the Month by Willow Pond Koi.  Please look at their site www.willowpondkoi.com to see my koi as well as images of the real thing.  This picture, Limpopo, was inspired by friend Sheila's butterfly koi.  I painted it on YUPO for the fluid movement.  You may have it for your wall for $500 unframed.  Contact me: Arlene G. Watercolor, Collage, "A Bunch" by Hawaii Artist Arlene G. Woo

This is one of the series of small fruit collages I had fun with.  "Just Peachie" is another.  "A Bunch" is 6.5"x4.5" and would make a lovely hostess gift at $40.  The background is actually white of the paper although it appears blue here.  Contact me:  Arlene G. Woo

Watercolor, Collage, Fruit, Just Peachie! Hawaii Artist, Arlene G. Woo

Since I've been enjoying all the summer fruits, I began to transfer my tastes into the visual sense.
Just Peachie! is one of a series of small collage fruit images.  They measure 6.5"x 4.5" and they were really fun to do. (the background is white, even tho it may look blue on screen)   Matted $40.   Several would look good together or one might make a nice hostess gift.

Watercolor, Mountains, Abstract, Hawaii Artist, Arlene G. Woo

I poured a bit, I painted a bit, and I drew a bit.  My friend, George Woollard, says, "Draw with the brush."  I like the depth here and feel like it's an analogy for life: finding our way through the maze of experiences.  The image is 15" x 22". $400 Free postage within US.  Arlene G. Acrylic, Collage, Mixed Media painting, Summer, Hawaii Artist, Arlene G. Woo

Like many thrifty artists, I had decided to paint over an old blue painting.  I wanted to use some bright colors like orange, sand, etc, but the blue decided to stay.  So the painting and I compromised.  We have the blue of the ocean and the sky and the sand of the land.  I used hand-dyed papers I had made years ago and some newer papers I printed.  This gallery wrapped image is 24"x12".  $400, Free shipping within the U.S.

Red Cats,Watercolor by Arlene G. Woo, Hawaii Artist

I wanted to try a different approach: working more with lines and creating a cross between abstraction and realism.  This is image is primarily watercolor but there are few charcoal "scribbles". (Sometimes my hand goes ahead of my head.). Red Cats was selected by Jan Ledbetter for the Hawaii Watercolor Society Members show in April 2014.   The image is 14"x10" on paper.  Unmatted and unframed:  $300
