"Solo Act: Red Indian Paintbrush" by Karla Nolan, palette knife oil painting

You may have noticed that I love the color red, the energy, the vibrancy, the fire.  And so on.  I painted this Indian Paintbrush a few years back and was recently contacted by some folks in California interested in purchasing it.  I enthusiastically agreed, of course!  It is going to a good home and I am so happy!

“Woming Pond” by Colorado mixed media artist Lisa Eisenhardt

Most of the time I paint intuitively from whatever comes up in my mind and heart. This place is peace to me, where I'd like be. It reminds of Wyoming.

"Red Skies" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

I like red and I like drama in skies.  Hence the above painting (bottom photo is the close up).  Sunsets are my favorite genre to paint and you never see or paint the same one twice!  I usually have mountains involved in these art works, as I live right by them and sometimes it's almost as if there is a bounce back in the colors.  Paintings on glass are nerve wracking because it is so easy to get overly enthusiastic and mess it all up but I'm pleased with this outcome.  And it comes already framed (in a basic black frame), ready for the nail in your wall!

"Red Skies", 8"x10" (measured edge to edge glass) in frame shown, $240 includes s/h in continental U.S., Paypal accepted, click button below or write me for more information at KarlaNolan@gmail.com

"Windswept Indian Paintbrush" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

Oops, at it again, I guess, that painting on glass and all!  This is my take on the famous Indian Paintbrush flowers, a flowering plant indigenous to the western U.S., always a delight to see blooming alongside the road, on hikes, climbing up a mountain....I've seen them recently in Colorado and Wyoming and they occur in varying colors, primarily red but sometimes with an orange hue.

"Windswept Indian Paintbrush", 6"x6" (measured edge to edge glass) in frame shown, $125 includes s/h in continental U.S., Paypal accepted, click button below or write me for more information at KarlaNolan@gmail.com

"Yellow Water Lilies in Yellowstone National Park" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

Well, this is kind of different, isn't it?  We were in Yellowstone a number of years ago, just driving along, looking at all the marvelous sights when I saw something that just didn't quite seem to fit in with what I expected to see in Wyoming.  Hawaii, yes, Wyoming, no.  Water lilies were in bloom in water near the road -- I got out of the car, went over, looked at almost black water, and there they were, floating on the pads, in that water.  I was amazed, and bright yellow, to boot!  We have been back to Yellowstone National Park since then, drove to the same spot, and, voila, they weren't anywhere to found.  Another amazing nature story from the mysterious planet called Earth!

"Yellow Water Lilies in Yellowstone National Park", 11"x14" measured edge to edge glass, framed painting on glass, $465 includes s/h in continental U.S., click Paypal button below or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

"Once There Were Millions" contemporary bison painting by Kate Dardine

Painting #38 of my Painting a Day project. Bison is a re-occuring theme in my paintings - as one of my totem animals, I feel very close to the spirit of this great animal who once roamed the plains in giant herds. 6x6", oil on stretched canvas. Click here for purchase information.
