 Not quite sure if this is finished...I think I may make the black on the trees darker and add more black splatter...hmmmm.....It is funny, but often I think a piece is finished, then when I photograph it and put it up on the screen, I see things I do not like, that I don't notice when looking at the actual painting!!

This painting features textured trees on a textured background.  Did I mention there was a lot of texture?

The "bushes" are made from shotgun paper target remnants.  What???
I was at a shooting range with my husband and son-in-law.  They were shooting at paper targets with their shotguns.  All over the ground were these lovely paper target pieces shot full of holes.  YOU CAN'T BUY PAPER LIKE THAT!

They thought I was nuts to be picking that stuff up.  Click on the painting to enlarge it to get a good look at the paper.

This painting is finished, signed and drying at the studio. I used some new colors, hoping that the mix of turquoise, cobalt would contrast with the yellows, ochres and oranges. This painting was shipped to Colorado yesterday. It would like really nice with a pewter/plein air moulding. I tried framing it in a black moulding and it was too much. Too much contrast between the painting and the frame. I used a different color palette on this painting...much more yellows and greens than normal. Thanks for looking at this blog. Kay

This painting was done using a "faux batik" process using wax and fluid acrylic paints on imported rice paper.  The rice paper has an embedded silver thread that shows through here and there (not visible in photo.)

This painting is at the Omni Hotel Convention Center for the ribbon cutting ceremonies this Friday, November 11th. 11 - 11 - 11. What a great date. It will be on display in the Grand Ball Room. Anyone who has been around me knows that I have worked with McKane Consulting on an art project for the new hotel. It has been a really good experience on many levels. I have been working with many Dallas artists, people on the construction side of the hotel and the good people at McKane Consulting.
