This is the second panel (see yesterday's posting 'Flow' for the first)  of two that were painted at the same time and would make a nice complement to each other. This panel also is not being signed on the front (signed on the back) as it can be turned for displaying purposes, but I would be happy to sign it at the request of buyer!

Thanks!

This is the first of two panels that were painted together and therefore complement each other.   I will post the second one 'Ebb' tomorrow.  Also, these are not being signed on the front as they can be turned giving a collector various options for displaying the piece(s).   Although, I would be more than happy to sign it on the front at the request of the buyer.

Thank you!

This is a small study working from a photograph that I took at a local Japanese Garden.  A much in love young couple had stopped at this ledge and she was posing for a photograph that he was taking.  I was standing from the back side and thought of this as a painting and took a snap of it as well.  Perhaps a larger painting?

'Allison's Fancy' Abstract Expressionism Painting by Elizabeth Chapman

'Allison's Fancy'

Abstract Expressionism

Acrylic on 10" x 8" canvas

This little painting got it's title from an art student of mine.  I had painted this and then tossed it off to the side, not sure and honestly not that crazy about it.  Allison, an elementary age student who is VERY expressionistic and loves working abstractly,  pulled this out this week and exclaimed "I love this!"  going on and on about what she saw in it.  So..... there you go..... I had this photograph stashed away for quite some time, but it was always in the back of my mind as good subject matter for a painting. It was taken at Cider Days here in Springfield last fall. so... this last weekend I got it out and....painted it! I was attracted to the texture and richness of the reds contrasted against the gold flowers.

I enjoyed painting this from an arrangement of flowers I had purchased from our weekly Saturday  grocery shopping excursion.  I'll have to admit much changed from the original set up, but then that is what having creative license is all about!  To see more of my floral abstracts visit my web gallery.
