"Poppy Field Near Trevi, Italy" by Karla Nolan, original watercolor and ink painting on paper

From the moon to the poppy fields again (my last blog was a lunar blog) -- we were near this field but above it when we first saw it, standing near a wall in Trevi, Italy.  Visiting in May, the delightful red flowers were everywhere and we drove all around so I could get some reference photos.  Luckily we were successful in navigating to this field, so here you go, some more poppies from me to you!

"Carmine Hills" by Karla Nolan, original watercolor painting on paper

You know, sometimes simpler just seems to be better and in the case of this watercolor painting, it seems to work!  Almost pure color, although at a close up view you'll see different hues and shades of reds.  Ah, I just love color!

"Carmine Hills", 10.5"x4.75" watercolor (unmatted), $95 which includes s/h in continental U.S., contact me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information, Paypal accepted

"Vermilion Hills" by Karla Nolan, watercolor on paper

This painting is something of a compilation of the many poppy fields I've seen in both Italy and France.  Lots of red, wouldn't you say?  How can these beautiful flowers not make one smile?  I love seeing them!

"Near Najac, France" by Karla Nolan, watercolor painting (unmatted)

It was May of 2013, a very difficult time in life as my father had passed away.  We escaped to France.  May is poppy month and we were fortunate enough to be able to view the many coquelicot fields around this little village, Najac.  Seeing these happy hills of red soothed my shattered nerves a bit.  Looking back, I recall the emotions of losing a beloved person, those feelings never leave.  But France helped.

"Early Spring Lightning and Thunderstorm" by Karla Nolan, 8"x10" unframed palette knife oil painting

Well, you know the old saying, "April showers bring May flowers"?  It happens here in Northern Colorado, that's for sure, those thunder and lightning storms bring the much needed moisture to the foothills, mountains, and plains.  This is a bit of a dramatic stretch as I'm not an art literalist, but a firm believer in artistic license.  It's more fun!

"Early Spring Lightning and Thunderstorm", 8"x10" unframed palette knife oil painting on gesso board, $160 includes s/h in continental U.S., click Paypal button below or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

Thanks for viewing my art!  Greetings from Fort Collins, Colorado
