This painting was started in my last workshop in Wisconsin.  I had the class work with printed papers, altered papers, stencils, gestural marks and model their composition after a painting by Robert Rauschenberg.
It was fun to see all their work which was similar, yet had a lot of their own touches added in.

"Shelter From The Storm" Contemporary Collage Painting By Donna Holdsworth

This painting is done on 11x14 textured stretched canvas. I created the church using papers from  National Geographic pages treated with CitraSolv.  This technique produces some truly amazing results!  I drew the man with charcoal, then painted him with acrylic and collaged him into the painting.  Multiple acrylic glazes applied to achieve rich color and depth that I can't capture with my camera.  Contact via BLOG:  Donna Holdsworth Contemporary Art.  Thank you!
