The Beta, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

The Beta
A Contemporary Horse Painting
©+Laurie Pace       Graphics One Design 2014

Size: 20 x 30  Oil on Canvas. Sold

Such discovery fun.  Creative play. Painting full of joy.  I could make hash tags on all of these:  #discoveryfun, #creativeplay, #paintingwithjoy,

The Beta is power and strength. The Beta has many things woven across it surface and joy literally bounces from side to side. Yes, I have said this often this week, A road traveled but once.... but I did do another one similar that was larger.... two in fact and they all turned out with different personalities.  Beta I believe sold from my Jackson Hole Gallery, The Rare Gallery.  Abstract Horse Painting FUN!

The unfolding of your words gives light;
it gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130

Summer Pony Mixed Media Horse Paintings by Laurie Pace

Summer Pony
©+Laurie Pace       Graphics One Design 2014

Size:12 x 24  Mixed Media on Canvas. Sold

Mixed media several seasons ago.  This too was one of those Roads Once Traveled that you can never duplicate. With the difference mediums I used, there was a hope and a hesitancy as I watched to see how things would combine on the surface and if they would stand up to the final varnish.  I did not want to even sell this one, but it is sold and in a happy home.

Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.  Psalm 119:105

Rocky Mountain High, Abstract Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Rocky Mountain High

 Size:24 x 30   Oil on Canvas. Sold

Rocky Mountain High... John Denver singing in the background of course... and one of my unusual palettes of all earth tones sauced with a bit of dark red.  This abstract horse painting sold from Mirada Fine Art.

Layers of palette knife oils spread piling high and mixing together in natural formations. Sweet calm energy flows from this one, like that sweet time you take as you savor something good.

How sweet are your words to my taste,

sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 119:103

No 102 Five Red Flowers, Flower Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

no 102 Five Red Flowers

 Size:30 x 30  Oil on Canvas.Sold

I have a deep love for roses. Pretty sure they are wrapped up in my soul along with my horses that I paint. Terry plants roses for me all the time and vases are filled throughout my house with new clippings for each new day. I have roses of every color and every scent. The bushes are chosen by the scent the roses bare. Hoping this day you will enjoy this abstract rose painting.

May your unfailing love be my comfort,
according to your promise to your servant. Psalm 119:76

No 200 Last Push Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

no 200 Last Push
©+Laurie Pace       Graphics One Design 2014

 Size:30 x 30  Oil on Canvas. Sold

This was one of those discovery horse paintings. I was playing with the spray bottle and dripping paint and literally watching it run and the energy of this horse literally came to the front. It seemed like one of those moments in life that feels like it has transpired over 24 hours but it was actually only over two hours. It was a horse painting that left me feeling more creative and wanting to start again, but no matter what I could never capture this same feeling again. It is a road only traveled once.

I have sought your face with all my heart;

be gracious to me according to your promise. Psalm 119:58

No 96 Early Sunflowers
©+Laurie Pace       Graphics One Design 2014

 Size:9 x 12  Oil on Canvas. Sold

Has to be one of my favorite paintings. Began with a solid black canvas... acrylic so it dried quickly. Then I sketched out my sunflowers randomly in white chalk and then went straight to my oil paints creating this dynamic sunflower painting. Small but powerful, it is sold, but again something to draw inspiration from. If you are a beginning artist I highly recommend this approach with trial and error. Black acrylic covers the canvas and then build your painting on top of it.  I shared a lesson last year on pumpkins on my website, starting in black and moving forward.

May your unfailing love come to me, Lord,
your salvation, according to your promise; Psalm 119:41

Hints of Picasso, Floral Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Hints of Picasso
©+Laurie Pace       Graphics One Design 2014

 Size:18 x 24  Oil on Canvas.SOLD

This is an older painting reposted but looking at it makes me want to paint something similar. This may inspire a painting this weekend.  The approach to the canvas on this floral painting was to create the background with layers of rubbed acrylic paint and then to block out the vase and flowers on top of the rubbed acrylic. The top painting is in oil and the finish is incredible as a mixed media painting.

Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees,
that I may follow it to the end. Psalm 119:33

At the Ocean
©+Laurie Pace       Graphics One Design 2014

 Size:24 x 36  Oil on Canvas.  SOLD

The little one on the beach was painted several years ago. I like the full sunlight of this painting of child on the beach.  I love the simplicity of the waves and the pure softness of the sand.

Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart  Psalm 119:2

Night Crossing Horse Paintings, Contemporary Palette Knife Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Night Crossing
©+Laurie Pace       Graphics One Design 2014

 Size:24 x 24  Oil on Canvas. Sold
Prints are available. Contact me.

I fell in love with the movement on this painting as it evolved on the canvas. The palette was quiet compared to my normal rainbow palette, but the energy was high and the movement of paint led the eye throughout this contemporary horse painting.  Completed with caramel browns, ultramarine blues, white, mauves and mixes of all three...the palette offers up earth tones in a quiet deep thrust.

You cannot plan this type painting. It comes from deep within the creative spirit.

 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
    and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:3

Crowning the Hill, contemporary horse painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Crowning the Hill  48 x 48   © Laurie Pace 2014

Crowning the Hill
Contemporary Horse Paintings

Size: 48 x 48  Oil on Canvas. Sold

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

This painting hangs in a restaurant in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.  I am hoping to make it up there this summer to see it hanging and to enjoy a wonderful meal.  Keeping up with my paintings is hard because there have been so many...but in the past three or four years I have painted less and enjoyed it more. Doing a larger paintings and connecting with the new owners and making the experience special is what makes it so very special.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.  Ephesians 6:18

By the Dawn's Early Light, Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

The Dawn's Early Light  © Laurie Pace

By The Dawn's Early Light
©+Laurie Pace       Graphics One Design 2014

 Size: 30 x 40  Oil on Canvas.

The painting was in my mind a few weeks ago and looking through my painting archives I came across a single horse with a sun rising entitled Dawn's Early Light.  I thought it would be appropriate to do a contemporary horse painting for the 4th of July and name it By Dawn's Early Light.

Today is Independence Day in the United States. This is a holiday we all look forward from the time we are little bitty until we are old and in our rocking chairs.  In the old days when I was young....we had sparklers, small firecrackers and simple things to light off with our families.  I loved the holiday at my grandmother's farm. It was always darker in the country and the fireworks seem brighter.

When I had children, two of the three were boys that played baseball so we were always at the baseball field for Little League fireworks in Nacogdoches. Most of the community was there and all of our friends.

When I moved to Kentucky, we went to the fireworks in Cincinnati on the river. We sat high on the banks and literally laid on a blanket looking up watching the beautiful lights over the river with a power reflection from the water.

Freedom is a powerful thing. But more powerful is God.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:10-17
