Contemporary Still Life Painting

"Tears of Joy" didn't happen overnight.  I had originally painted a landscape with aspens on the canvas in a thin wash.  Not satisfied with the colorful landscape, I mixed a muddy pinky-beige color and started all over.  I loosely painted a vase and long stemmed roses, making it abstract.  After looking at it for a couple of months, I put a few more touches on it with thinned-down paint, letting the paint run down the canvas. I have suggested a vase filled with water and flowers, letting the viewer's eye fill in the negative space.  I limited the colors to pinks, corals and greens.  Framing is optional-all four sides of the canvas are painted.  Here is a close-up of one of the flowers.

I thought that the drips on the canvas looked like tears....but not sad tears.  "Tears of Joy" is looking for a new home!  The contemporary still life painting would make a lovely statement in a bedroom or bathroom.  Contact Kay for purchasing info.  Thanks for looking!  Kay

Day #8 in the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge

This still life painting started with a a bouquet of fresh flowers in the studio.  The jar is full of color and the flowers are bursting out of the jar.  Lately I have been painting floral still lifes to capture the beauty and the variety of colors and shapes that I see.  I have this painting in a handsome frame, hanging at the studio.  I would also look great standing on an easel without the frame.  Contact Kay Wyne for purchasing information.  Thanks for looking at this blog...Kay

Contemporary Oil Painting

My color palette is very vibrant in this painting....which I just completed in the studio.  It is too hot to paint outside in Texas under the hot July sun.  I had fun with this one....I wanted all of the flowers to sing with color.  Here is a pic of my palette that I was working from.

This small painting was completed in the studio yesterday.  I need to sign it and let dry before framing it up.  I had lots of great colors on my palette, and loved playing with the roses, reds, corals, violets and greys.  My intention was to get the palette knife out, but stuck with my flat brush.    I mixed and mixed my colors for this painting, but was careful not to mix them on the canvas, just  putting the paint down, and not going back into it, making each stroke count.   Contact Kay for more info on this small floral arrangement.  Thanks, Kay
