As I am exploring the world of abstraction, I am studying how to create exciting landscapes with far less detail. This entails fewer brushstrokes using lots of paint, exciting colors and letting a scene tell its story using the most basic of shapes. This is one of my studies with more on the horizon. This is another of my abstract floral still life paintings that was done as an exploration into creating paintings that have less detail but say more. It is a challenge to work mostly intuitively on these. Many of these start with some sort of reference but soon take on their own lives once I let go and let them dictate the direction.
