Figurative Abstract ORIGINAL Painting "Bon Vivant" by Contemporary Artist Elizabeth

Bon Vivant
Acrylic on 36" x 48" canvas
Available

This painting received an incredible amount of interest from a local showing.  It has been a goal of mine this year to dabble more with figurative abstracts.  Most of them were small paintings until I decided to tackle this large canvas with a figurative. The inspiration came from an old vintage photograph of friends/family enjoying a meal together in the 1930's, France.  Lots of thick paint and surface texture.

Figurative Abstract Painting, "Blessings" by Contemporary Abstract Artist Elizabeth Chapman

Blessings
Acrylic on 10" x 10" x 3/4" canvas
Commissioned

Well, it all started with a 30 paintings in 30 days challenge when I began painting figurative abstracts from photos of my own kids. Something that I had been wanting to do for a while, just needed a challenge to spur me on. Since then I've been inquired regarding creating these customized paintings from a buyers photos.  This one is worked from the photo you see below.  Fanny, her husband and twin sons on their first birthday visiting family in Argentina. These have turned out to be very special.

As I paint these, it is more about capturing the feeling in a gesturally manner of the moment rather than a realistic representative of the figures. If you think you might be interested in your own and would like more information email me: elizabethchapman@ artlover.com

I posted about the process of this painting on my blog: HERE, I joined the "30 paintings in 30 days challenge" this year for the first time.  Just felt like I needed a boost in getting myself back into a studio attitude.  It's been wonderful for me.  Working more figurative abstracts is something I've been desiring to do for awhile.  The challenge has given me a reason to try something different. These are my daughters Emma and Elsie, sisters.
