Pumpkin, Contemporary Still Life Paintings by Amy Whitehouse

8" x 10" Oil, $150

The pumpkins are lovely and promise that autumn is here.
So even though the air conditioning is chugging away,
and the temperatures still flirt around 100,
I'm getting in the mood for fall and trust its imminent arrival.
So I'm painting pumpkins from Trader Joe's.

"Down in the Valley" by Karla Nolan, unframed palette knife oil painting

Driving south to Salida, along the Collegiate Range, I couldn't help but notice the houses nestled below the foothills and mountains.  This was during the fall, the colors were just beginning to turn, and I wondered, what would it be like to live down in that valley?  This question will never be answered, as I have no plans to move anytime soon, but to me it's the sort of place that so many visitors to Colorado just dream about owning!

"Down in the Valley", 18"x24" unframed palette knife oil painting on canvas,  write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

"Autumn in the Park" by Texas Contemporary Artist, Judy Wilder Dalton

Autumn in the Park
8"x8"x1 1/2"
Oil on Cradled Wood Panel

$135

Judy Wilder Dalton

I just finished four new oil abstract landscapes.  Switched to some primed smooth wood cradled wood panels.  The panels (Ampersand) are made of top quality 1/8 " MDF and primed smooth with an acrylic gesso and cradled in a pine wood box.  I have wrapped the painting around the edges and they are ready to hang without framing.   Combining some techniques that I have carried over from both my acrylic abstract and oil paintings,  I am really enjoying the feel of how the paint goes on this smooth surface. I am starting with the four seasons inspiring me and will continue to wherever my imagination leads me.  Definitely more to come, because I am happy with the results.

Original Acrylic Artwork by Oklahoma Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy

"A Pair of Scissors"
I decided to have some fun doing my signature line technique on representing the Oklahoma State Bird, flycatcher scissortails. I used contrasting blues and oranges to give it vibrancy, a feeling of soaring energy, and for a indication of the coming Fall. This was an exciting and rewarding painting for me to accomplish. Done on a 12"x 36"x 1.5" gallery wrap canvas in acrylics. It will be shown in the 2013 OKC State Fair arts competition, then afterwards will be hanging for sale at the Shawnee, Ok Sweet Earth Studio Mingle Gallery in a mini solo show for their anniversary in October. Price $500.00 For information contact the gallery or find them on facebook https://www.facebook.com/sweetearthstudio

"ASPEN LEAF SERIES 11 ," 10147, daily painter acrylic collage © Carol Nelson Fine Art

"ASPEN LEAF SERIES 11," 10147

The leaves are turning here in Colorado.  It's our annual reminder that winter is around the corner.  For almost everyone I know who lives here, it is their favorite time of year with cool air, warm sun, and brilliant colors - Nature at her best.

This is a smaller version of my recent aspen leaf collages.  This one measures 8.75 inches high by 5 inches wide.  For purchase information, please click here to go to my website.

"FALL IN COLORADO II & III" daily painter original landscape © Carol Nelson Fine Art

FALL IN COLORADO II, 10143

FALL IN COLORADO III, 10144

Here's two more versions of the photos I took while we were up in Breckenridge, CO.  These are painted in oil on paper using a brush and a palette knife.  The knife is really great for adding texture and simulating leaves.
For purchase information, please see my website.

"ASPEN LEAF SERIES 8 & 9," 10140, 10141 daily painter metallic leaf collage © Carol Nelson Fine Art

These two are the latest in my leaf series.  Each one is on a mounted board measuring 24x5.5 inches.  The leaves are cut from painted water color paper with the edges slightly curled to increase the depth.  The background on both paintings has a mixture of metallic paints giving each piece a soft glow.

The entire surface is coated with a thick layer of crystal clear epoxy resin which enhances the saturation of color, secures the leaves in place, and protects the painting.

I love doing these leaf collages because I can go wild with the colors.  Blueand purple leaves???  I've never seen blue or purple aspen leaves, but maybe I just haven't seen those particular trees...
