ANCIENT MOTHER by Pat Stacy

Ancient Mother

30" x 48" x 1.5"

Acrylic on Canvas

$2160.00

This painting is done in earth colors and in

layers that remind me of the layers of rock

that form our ancient earth.  the womb shape

in the center of the canvas has the copper

descending squares of the light of the Creator

beside the Entity who is looking on.  Below,

at  the mouth of the womb, are dark, matte

figures that are the souls, either ancient or

waiting to be born.  For more information

Wild Blue by California artist Brenda York

30x24" oil on canvas, available

This is one of my newest pieces and a little different direction--just a little different. In a constant effort to loosen up I recently started playing with oil bars. You really can't be very exacting when you apply color with oil bars. They are like using those chunky crayons when you were a little kid with those teeny tiny hands. So you just have to get over yourself and cut loose. I like the messiness and the roughness they add to the linear parts of this painting. Coloring inside the lines definitely not advised!

If you are interested in this painting shoot me an email. It's brand new and not even up on my website yet.

Earth Mama by Brenda York

6x8" oil on canvas

This is one of those paintings that just refused to be named. I struggled far too long to come up with the right name. Shouldn't be that hard...I mean, I keep a notebook of quirky words, funny phrases and overheard snippets of conversations. All at my fingertips when it comes time to "Name-That-Painting". And yet, some refuse a title without a bit of an arm-wrestle. So in the midst of my teeth-gnashing and head-banging, in walks the teenage daughter and in a complete and utter incognizant moment she mutters, "Oh. Earth mama." And so it goes...
