What Goes Around...by Texas Contemporary Abstract Artist Filomena Booth
What Goes Around...
40"x40"x1.5"
Acrylic on Canvas
Sometimes it's nice to try something completely different for a change. My compositions are generally more geometric, based on rectangles and squares. Last week, after texturing the canvas, I decided to begin the painting with large, sweeping shapes. Lots more texturing and metallic touches later and this spiral emerged. I wish the sunlight outside had been brighter when I took this picture...there is no beige in the painting. I finagled the best I could with Photoshop, but couldn't get the pale sage green quite right. I'll try again on a sunnier day.
This painting has not yet been posted on either one of my online art gallery sites, ArtQuiver and Artfulhome. For purchase information, please contact me.
I am one of the Featured Artists on ArtQuiver this week and my work is being offered for sale for a limited time. Please click here to visit my ArtQuiver gallery.

First Sale of the New Year! Filomena de Andrade Booth Texas Contemporary Abstract Artist
At First Glance
40"x40"x1.5"
Sold
Just when I thought that 2011 would get off to a slow start, I got an email from ArtQuiver to inform me that one of my paintings had just sold. That made my day and gave me the motivation to get busy in the studio again after taking a too long break for the Holidays.
Hopefully 2011 will be a great one for us artists. Please comment if you've noticed an up-tick in sales and interest in your work.

Fields and Streams by Texas Contemporary Artist Filomena de Andrade Booth
Fields and Streams
30"x40"x1.5"
Acrylic on Canvas
The inspiration for this painting came from my view from a plane earlier this year. It was early spring and the fields had not yet started to turn green. Although the window seat is usually the most cramped and difficult to get out of, it's always my favorite place to watch the world go by. The variety of colors and texture in the scene below me lead me to create this painting.
Fields and Streams is one of several paintings I currently have available on Artquiver. To see my entire portfolio of original abstract paintings, please visit my website.

Forbidden Dream - Original Contemporary Abstract Painting by Texas Artist Filomena Booth
Forbidden Dreams
Acrylic on Canvas
2006
Sold
I've been digging through my old files again and found another painting that I did back in 2006. I remember using a lot of metallics in this one, mostly gold and bronze. I love the way Golden's metallic bronze separates into a verdigris when it is diluted with water.

My work is also available through ArtQuiver and will soon be featured in Artfulhome.
