KMD2333 North Park Vista by Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (6x8 oil landscape North Park, CO)

It has been such a busy year that I haven't posted in months. I have been spending a lot of time experimenting with abstraction. I will start posting those in the New Year but meanwhile, here is a fun expression of a summer scene in North Park. This piece is 6"x8" with expressive, less detailed brushwork.  6”x8” unframed original oil

Colorado Flood Relief Fundraiser KM2124 Fields of Lavender by Kit Hevron Mahoney (5x7 original oil landscape)

Here is my 2nd painting whose sale proceeds will be contributed to the Colorado relief efforts. I will send the very generous purchaser the painting along with details of the donation placed in their name. I want thank everyone in advance for helping in the relief efforts for the many displaced Coloradans who were unfortunate enough to have been in the path of this disaster.
These lavender fields were painted from photos I took in Sequim, Washington from a trip with my husband Jim several years ago. Much closer than Provence!

KMA2884 The Dreamer's Moon by Denver, Colorado contemporary artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (5x7 original abstract oil painting, abstract landscape, abstraction)

I was thrilled with the result of this painting. It started as a representational landscape from a photo taken in Montana at sunset but the painting evolved into this abstraction where one can ponder the sun or moon. I am doing a 30x40 of this as well. It is the direction I am wanting to go in my abstracts where there is enough information for the viewer to ponder the subject and let their imagination come into play. This one was successful because my studio partners looked over while I was working on it and saw that I needed to go no further, and yelled "stop". Thank you John and Kelly. Sometimes we need that feedback before going too far with a painting.
