Pecan trees in Houston are really considered junk trees. They usually do bear pecans that are edible but they are a far cry from hybridized varieties grown in orchids.Everywhere a pecan drops will sprout a new tree so like Tallow trees, people don't buy them in nurseries as a rule.
However, they have wonderful fall foliage if the temps stay cold enough and they are fast growers.Don't plant them near a driveway or patio because they release tannic acid...used to dye leather goods and it will stain.I just like the wildness about them so I sketched a few down in a vacant lot.I wanted to get a sense of movement and independence because it was a very windy day. This painting is a real bargain. It took no time to do so I'm selling it at a rock bottom price.Jesus, I sound like somebody at Wallmart.
Oil on canvas.Very colorful.
