Did some plein aire painting yesterday, then added the boat once I got home. I do straight realism on a regular basis, but don't usually post it, because it feels like a departure from my regular "brand" of fantasy. The conventional wisdom says an artist should be in a niche. Although online, it seems like an artist can get away with doing more variety than they can when submitting a portfolio to a publisher or a gallery, and still sell well. So, what do you think? I'd be interested to know.
