I'm sorry to report I do not know French and I had to research the word for pear in French as my best guess would have been "le pear". I make a special trip to the john when in the Macaroni Grill just to hear the recordings of Italian spoken, and about the only thing I can say in Spanish is "My cat drinks milk". Pathetic but with this thick Texas drawl it's difficult to even speak good understandable English.  On the above painting there is a combo of hand painted papers and torn magazine papers but mostly magazine papers. The hand painted is under the stencil letters and at the top right side I decorated some torn pages with a tone on tone with polka dots and a vine pattern. The colors are a little wild. Here is the side view where I've used music text from the 30's.

Ampersand posted this morning an interview about my art and using the Ampersand products. Check out the interview HERE.  I worked with Karen Meyer-Berthel, artist and social media specialist on the interview. Thanks Karen for the opportunity to share my art in the newsletter and on the blog. 

The Texas Cactus, (below) an oil pastel, is on an Ampersand gessobord and it was one of the three paintings that were included in the new book out, Painting with Mixed Media. Read about it HERE. 

The cactus oil pastel is on Ampersand Gessoboard and I guess the first time I really paid much attention to them is at a weekend excursion to Austin after a Dena Wenmohs Ranch Workshop. Dena took us to the factory in Austin and they allowed us to look in the room where the slightly damaged panels were. We were very diplomatic and gathered in a circle and took turns choosing a panel, what fun. Since then I have ordered them online. If you're on Facebook search for Cheap Joe's Art Stuff and on their page there is an icon Cheap Joe's Summer Art Contest and on about page 30, there is a black and white collage of one of my sons that I did, no name, no title but it has about 19 votes!!.. vote if you'd like or not. I don't think there are prizes involved just a fun contest and you can view some art. Voting on the Creative Catalyst works won't be until August. Also as an extra saving sometimes before placing an art order it pays to check on any online promotions from these art supply sources to save a few extra dollars.

Nancy Standlee is now an internationally collected artist. Let me explain and it has been a steep learning curve for my client, Jo and I. Paypal wouldn't work but we've found a work around and soon I will be shipping a collage to Australia and I've had to do some research on how to mail but it is now in the packing stage. Thanks for the purchase, Jo.


These two collages were shipped this week to an Austin art collector and thanks again.
