HAY FARMING, CHERRY VALLEY, NY, By Visionary Artist Susan Medyn
If you have never been along Route 20 in Upstate New York you are missing some of the most beautiful scenery in a landscape of farms and houses in disrepair. This was formerly the main East- West thoroughfare for New York State prior to the advent of the New York State Thruway. My mom has a summer house on Tuscarora Lake, a small man made feeder lake for the former Erie Canal System. In the summer it is the most gorgeous of areas, dragon flies buzzing in the abundant wildflowers that grow everywhere and dairy farms and corn fields everywhere. Once we saw cows walking in a line on the path of abandoned train tracks. It is an idyllic place to be 3 months out of the year prior to the incessant gray skies and snows that can come as early as October and linger through May.
This is one of many small works done when visiting there when my son was 3.
This painting is for sale for $30 and can easily be framed.
