"California Bougainvillea" by Karla Nolan, FRAMED glass painting

ALERT: You are about to view art of a different nature. These are paintings on glass -- that is, painted directly onto glass with specially formulated glass paints. They are always framed for the protection of the glass. The paints often are transparent and sometimes opaque, giving a stained glass appearance under good light. They, like all fine art, should not be hung in direct sunlight. The photographs do not do them justice -- my colors are very vibrant. Close ups are available, just e-mail me for information (see below). In most instances, click on the actual image for an even larger image to view -- you'll see lots of different items such as marbelization, transparent or opaque parts of the work -- try it and see! Commissions are accepted.

We were in northern California last fall, Sonoma, as I recall. Walking down the street, I noted an alleyway that was planted with bougainvillea. Now this particular plant is one of my favorite plants for all the colorful bracts and leaves, second only to my love of poppies. Bougainvillea grow well indoors for me here in Colorado, but can only summer outside. The frosts will kill them quickly. They come in luscious shades of pink, salmon, orange, white, and seem to grow in more tropical climates such as Italy, Hawaii, Spain, and California. I'm certain that they are many other places, also, but I don't recall seeing them in too many native habitats. I guess I need to travel more!

"California Bougainvillea", 8"x10" FRAMED painting on glass, $340 includes s&h in N. America, Paypal preferred, click button below or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information -- thanks for looking and for your support!
