Although I usually don't have a specific theme or subject in mind when I begin a painting, many times the finished piece will remind me of something familiar. Yesterday, as I stood back to study this painting, it reminded me of birch trees on a snowy hillside. I suppose that if I had intended to paint trees, it would have ended up looking like something else!
