Thanks for all the kind comments and e-mails about my friend's son - they are so appreciated! Hayden is doing a little better today. He is sporadically conscious, is moving all his limbs, and making some eye contact - all good signs. His sister will continue to stay here for a while. This is very exciting for my daughters as we usually don't do sleepovers - we're trying to cloak it as an adventure!
We finally agreed to talk to the press as long as they focused on the dangers of these crosswalks. Below, see one of our interviews from today. While I never enjoy videos of myself, I think they did a good job bringing attention to the problem. The good news is that the City of Boulder is now launching a large scale safety study of these crosswalks.
Also, an anonymous good Samaritan brought over brand new bikes for the kids to replace their mangled ones. People continue to amaze and inspire me!
