Textured Acrylic on Panel 48" x 24" x 2"
O.K., so this painting isn't from today, but I just had to post it in honor of my daughter! Today is our "Gotcha Day" (the anniversary in adoptive families of the day they first meet their child) a very big deal in our family. Five years ago today, we were in China meeting (then one year old) S. for the first time! When we met, her name was XiaYu. We were told that the year before there had been a terrible drought in their province; on the day that two week old S. was found and delivered to the orphanage the skies opened and it started pouring.
They were so happy they named her XiaYu - "summer rain", and it still remains her middle name.
This painting comes from a photo I took on a particularly rainy day in China, so you see why I had to post this one today!
