Dash of Red by Contemporary Artist Kay Wyne

This is a commission piece that I did last fall. This is one of my first abstracts. The customer who asked me to paint this was so pleased with it that I met with her today to discuss another painting. Sue came to Studio Art and Soul and decided she wants three gallery wrap canvases to hang horizontally in an dining area in her home. Abstract. Nothing realistic or representational in the traditional sense. So, after measuring the wall and visiting, we decided to work with three 16" x 16" canvases. It should be a good challenge for me to meet all of her requests for the art. (Keeping with her color palette, the look, the feel and the subject matter.)
I do know that she liked the texture on this canvas. I used alot of paint and the palette knife. I have photographs of all the stages this painting went thru before I signed it and called it finished. At one point I got carried away with the color and had to tone it down. Sometimes I get carried away on my paintings, and have to tone it down in one way or another.
I hope that you enjoy this piece, and if you would like to visit with me about a commission piece of abstract art, I would love to visit with you. Please visit my website at http://www.kwyne.com/
Thanks!
