I made this painting for my artists group open studios contest. The theme is "Heart and Soul". Well, given I like to make creatures I thought I would be literal and paint a sole. I was going to title it "Eat Your Heart Out" as my sole's mouth is open and ready to munch on the hearty seaweed but went decided I liked Stone Sole Picnic.

This piece was inspired by a video I watched about white crows in Vancouver, British Columbia. This is another of my renewal paintings - paintings that startout as one thing and are basically put aside because they aren't working. When they are returned to my easel months or years later, they take on a completely new life, with the original painting creating texture, depth and experience.
