Small Floral Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 8x10" Pink Floral Oil Painting, Palette Knife

I wanted to create a soft, soothing floral still life. Painted on .75" deep canvas, with painted sides. Finished with a light spray of varnish to enhance and protect the colors.

I worked with both brush and palette knife, but 90% of it is the knife.

Hope you enjoy it!

Flower Still Life, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Oil on Panel, Palette Knife Painting

Today I painted a flower.

I have been struggling with my painting, for a full year now.  I have never been able to establish a routine in the studio, since we packed our bags, and moved to the mountains.  I thought I was over painting.  I found no joy in it.  In fact, everything I struggled to paint, seemed more like a duty and I found it frustrating.

But now, we have been back at the beach for three months.  It took awhile. First the holidays got in the way, but after the first of the year, I started to regain my love of spending my days in the studio.

Maybe it was the inspiration of the long walks on the beach, or maybe  it was being back with my art buddies again.  Whatever..........I am thrilled and anxious to smear paint across canvas again!

It is such a JOY!!!

Flower Palette Knife Painting, Hydrangea Painting,Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Textured Floral

While everyone is running around, with thoughts of turkey on their minds, I sit at the computer, remembering my lovely garden from last summer.  Hydrangea is always a favorite for me.

I painted with a palette knife, and left it very impressionistic, almost abstract.  I wanted to highlight the colors and not the form.

I have been struggling with my oils for several months now, but I was happy with the results on this piece, which has given me hope.

Thank you for viewing my blog today and I wish you all a HAPPY TURKEY DAY.

Summer Bouquet, Sunflowers and Mixed Floral Paintings by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

6" x 8," Oil, $60
Day 8 of 30/60
Sunflowers in a cobalt blue vase seem to be a great combo.
Although I did not paint today, I wanted to include this one
in my 30/60 challenge to offer 30 days of $60 paintings.
It is an original oil painting, dry, and ready to ship out.
Today was a big-time rest day; I sat on the beach and dozed,
then I sat by the pool...and dozed.
Finally, I sat on the balcony...and yep, dozed away.
Wow.  How often does one have a day like this?
And all day long gazing at the Atlantic Ocean.
I am one blessed little girl.
