This cross, "Color my Faith" , is one in my cross series that is painted with wax on wood. Because the cross has been painted with special wax used for encaustic it will not melt. Encaustic is a medium that is about three thousand years old and valued because of it's permanence and how vibrant the colors remain. This cross was made using a handprinted strip of cotton produces by one of our local artisans. I fabricated the center piece out of the same bee's wax that I used for the body of the cross. Each cross is layered with three layers of wax before the color and design are added.
