April frosts have enabled some happy accidents. It turns out certain liquid acrylic mediums crackle when they freeze producing patterns and shapes far more delicate than crackle paste.

Working plein-air at freezing temperatures I captured these
ice crystal prints in casein on clayboard. I find them so charming
