Tulips, Modern expressionism
Latest work Tulips, knife painting.
Textures: Texture is one of the design elements. While texture can make an image more interesting, not a strong enough element to be useful for a composition. A lot more points have to be involved / considered. The actual surface texture needs to either be felt, or seen with light raking across its surface to make the texture visible.

The Painting: This beauty was drawn out six weeks ago and I never painted him. Finally this past week I began working on him choosing colors back in the blue family where I have wondered lately. The stallion is strong with high ridges of paint created with my palette knife and my wonderful Holbein Duo Oils.

The Painting: This one has 15 layers of paint... no joke on that one. To get the continued softer translucent affect it required more than the normal... and it is mystifying in person when you look at it. I am not sure the camera was able to capture the thickness or the light weaving through out the composition. Holbein Duo Oils of course on Canvas.

The Painting: I think it was the mood of purple that hazed over me as I started painting this black horse. I didn't use much black. I didn't think I like it and then I truly did like it as it developed it's very own cool personality.
