This encaustic painting is from my Barn Door Series. It reminds me of the old doors that have to openings - one on top and a larger one on the bottom. It's a cloudy day with just a bit of blue sky sneaking through.
When creating this, I painted on several layers of encaustic wax - fusing each layer with a torch and then scraped back layers to reveal others below. The bottom is rough - just like a barn door, with the top being smooth to the touch.
