An original contemporary floral painting

I bought a sample pack of the watercolor board to try out. This purple orchid seemed like a good subject to experiment with but I'm not sure I like the support with watercolor or not yet, the jury is still out. I may prefer the support for acrylic instead. It sure is different than using watercolor on paper. The one positive feature it has going for it is the lifting ability, no need for masking at all. I did a very cool background to feature the bloom in this small painting.
