This is the first time I've ever painted a forest scene - I was inspired by the wonderful forest around the Volcano area on the big island of Hawaii. The cardinal is a transplant species in Hawaii , but beautiful to see in the woods nonetheless. I did catch a photo of the male and decided to add a female for more interest. I love late afternoon days when the light is soft and just trickling a little through the branches. I hope you enjoy viewing my painting.
