"Vision of the Hidden" Lynx painting by Kate Dardine

Painting #48 of my Daily Paintings. "Vision of the Hidden" is 6x6" oil on stretched canvas. Click here to purchase.

This is the first wild cat I have painted. Because cats tend to be nocturnal, I painted this as a night scene. I like the way the Lynx seems to be a part of the sky, almost like a star cluster. To me, this Lynx has the persona of a wizard - an aristocratic, knowing look in the eyes. According to Ted Andrews, author of Animal Speak, the Lynx is closely associated with the occult, and the moving back and forth between what is hidden and what is visible. Read more about this in my blog.
