Wigs. That is what this painting is all about. Sunday I had a customer, Sue come to the studio and fell in love with this painting. She took it home to see if it would "fit" in a certain space at her house. She did not see what I saw in the painting. So, I told her how this painting came about.
Karin Jurick has a blog, Different Strokes From Different Folks. Every two weeks she posts a photograph, and artists are invited to paint or draw interpretations of that photograph. We all see things differently. I think that there were about 75 artists who participated in this challenge...back in March, 2009. A couple of fellow studio partners painted this also, and we agreed that it was a challenge as we grumbled and painted. My painting ended up with some angles, and abstract. Anyway, the good news is that Wigs might have a new home. Let's hope that Pat and Sue get attached to it. The Wig painting is on a 18" x 18" gallery wrap canvas. I really like this painting. I would call this "Happy Expressionism". Thank you for your comments about my piece. It made my day!
ReplyDeleteCarol: I could change Wig painting to Happy Expressionism, especially since my customer had no idea that it was looking in the front window of a wig shop. Let's just hope she decides to keep "The Painting"!!!!!
