"Nine" Modern Abstract by Elizabeth Chapman

Nine was painted as a challenge I took upon myself from a suggestion to paint a painting using red, yellow, green and shades of. It began with a curve shape and the shapes of buildings as will so often emerge in my paintings began to appear. It also became a meaningingful painting to me because of the 91, and at the time it reference me to the Psalm 91 which brought me peace.

Nine is a large painting measuring 36" x 48" 1 1/2" gallery wrap canvas. It is presently being held at Hawthorn's gallery 417-866-6688 for my show which opens this Friday!! Contact Kylee or myself for more information.

Times Square by Kay Wyne

Times Square is full of energy. I wanted to capture the hustle and bustle of New York City in this painting. This painting is loaded with color and movement....I wanted to get the feel of the citiy on the canvas. Many colors are bouncing around in this painting....applied with brush and palette knife. This is a 22" x 28" gallery wrap canvas. It was my first cityscape painting...my husband took the photo I used as a reference last July while we were visiting NYC. Another trip is in the works for July or August...I can't wait! If you would like to contact me, please visit my website, blog or email me. Thanks for looking, Kay

A Painting A Day ~ Chasing the Light ~ Horse Equine Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

Chasing the Light
18 x 24 inches
Acrylic on Canvas

A Painting A Day: From the movement of paint and the turning of light, I often have to step back from my thought of creation to allow an inner freedom to work across the canvas. Working with both Golden Acrylics and Liqutex Acrylics, I revel in the intensity of color as these hues spirit across the canvas. Ridges of paint begin to carve out what is there that the eye has not seen yet. Confirmation from a few strokes brings it to the front.

"Brilliant Cloud Formation I" by Daily Abstract Arizona Painter, Amy Tuso done in oil.

This gallery wrapped, 18 x 36" oil painting works alone or as part of the series and represents one cloud formation which is emerging from another. It has brilliant, rich colors and tones. The brush strokes give the appearance of movement and dimension and was inspired by the beautiful sunrises and sunsets of the Sonoran Desert in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

Dash of Red by Kay Wyne

Today's posting is on a 24" x 24" gallery wrap canvas. Dash of Red was a commission piece that I did several months ago for my good friend, Sue. There are layers and layers of paint on the canvas, using a palette knife most of the time. It was quite a challenge for me since abstracts were pretty much out of my comfort zone. I was asked to create something abstract, and given certain colors to work off of. It would be placed on a plain and boring wall, so I knew that the art had to have some pizazz and energy. It took me three days to paint, which is longer than usual for me to crank out a painting. When I borrowed the painting back from the owners to photograph it, my friend said that she and her husband truly missed it on the wall. I am glad it has found the perfect home. Sue has encouraged me to branch out and paint abstracts, and for that I thank her!!!
Please feel free to view my works of art on my blog and website. If you live in the Dallas area, I would love for you to visit me at Studio Art and Soul in The Cedars. We all have a grand time painting and creating as we try figure out how to make it in the art world.

A Painting a Day, Horse Equine Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

No. 190 Bathed in Gold
24 x 30 inches
Acrylic on Canvas

Inquiries email me at: Laurie

A Painting A Day: Sometimes it is something as simple as a color that me me turn in hunger to pick up a palette knife. It might have been the gallon of white acrylic paint as I popped it open, or the evening light as it streamed through one west door in my studio casting gold across the room...what ever it was, it was God and it was good. This composition has several layers of Golden Acrylics scraped and moved with a palette knife. The final touches of accent colors and "spicing" in reds, turquoise and violet are unexpected treats. Painted on deep 2 inch canvas, this hangs with or with out a frame.

Amy Tuso Abstract Daily Painting In Oil

"Brilliant Cloud Formation III" is a 30x40 gallery wrapped, vibrantly colored oil abstract painting that expresses quiet power. Intense colors excite my senses and the play of this combination of bright red with the darkness of the blues invites your imagination to move with the cloud. "Brilliant Cloud Formation III" is part of a series that presents well on it's own and beautifully within the series. To view the entire Cloud Formation Series click here.

Golden Sky One by Carol Engles

This is a 16x11 watercolor with pastel and charcoal. I like to do abstract landscapes with colors that you may not expect. So here I used yellow gold and grey. These colors can be very strong, so I balanced this painting with soft chartreuse, pink, peach, lavender and mint. I have done several pieces with this color combination. If you would like this piece or want to leave me a comment, I 'd love to hear from you:

"The Show" Modern Abstract Art Painting by Elizabeth Chapman

Movement and color!! I've been working with a lot of color lately and so as I began this painting I was limiting myself to only working with black and white. And so how did that work out?!!... Well, as you can see, it didn't! I worked very intensely as I was balancing color, moving quickly and pouring myself into it. This painting has so many beautiful areas of color!

"The Show" is an acrylic painting on a 36"x 48" 1 1/2" gallery wrap canvas. If you think you might be interested in purchasing it, contact me at elizabethchapman@artlover.com. The painting can also be viewed here.

A Painting a Day ~ Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

No. 189 Colorful Kisses of Spring
30 x 40 inches
Oil on Canvas

A Painting A Day: Only occasionally do I find myself pulled into working on a painting as I did this one. Working on a large canvas surface of 30 x 40 inches, I knew the goal was color, life, brilliance, softness and intensity. This sets up a definite conflict of interest but a positive gathering of elements in the composition. Memories of my Grandmother's flower garden in the center of her horseshoe drive at her farm outside St Louis, led me to want to create something as fresh and soft as those moments when I would walk through the small paths often in flowers as tall as I was. I cannot count the layering that went into this painting and the depth of color and paint are astonishing. It is available for a good offer. Currently as it cures out, it hangs in my home gracing the walls with the kiss of spring.

Modern Abstract Daily Painting by Kimberly Conrad

Abstract painting on 18x18x1 1/2 gallery wrapped canvas.
This is another piece in the black and white Angry River series. As I said on the last post, it's very difficult to get a proper picture of these black and whites. One light darkens the white, and another light washes out the black. The black is, in fact very deep and rich, and the white has a beautiful shimmer, as it is a metallic paint. "The Night Time in the Rockies" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass, s&h incl. N. America

You don't see many "night" paintings generally speaking, and especially few in glass paintings. Therefore, this experiment, which I consider successful and I hope to do more of the same. Twilight and night in the mountains with the stars just above, twinkling away, beckoning to other worlds, very, very intriguing to me. Do you agree?

Celebration by Kay Wyne

Celebration is on a 36" x 36" gallery wrap canvas with most of the paint applied with the palette knife. At times I thought I was frosting a cake. I spent about 2 months on this painting, and I am pretty sure that it is completed. The colors are bright and intense. This started out as one of the Horizon series paintings, but as most paintings do, changed about mid-stream. It was headed towards an urban city scape at one point. The eye moves around on this one. If you would like to purchase Celebration or any other art, please contact me. Thank you...Kay

No 185 Into the Night Horse Equine Oil Painting
by Laurie Justus Pace

24 x 24 inches
Oil on Canvas
Contact me if you are interested: Laurie

A Painting A Day: A building of layers and a study of density, form and movement led to this unique palette knife painting. The first layer was a blocked out sketch in charcoal. The second was the use of Golden Acrylic paint, using black in the dark area, a violet blue in mid tones and a soft yellow in the light areas. After allowing that to dry.. then out comes the palette knife with incredibly soft buttery Holbein Duo Oils. The intensity builds on the surface of the canvas as the layers begin to build and color begins to form dimensionally. Color teases and plays with the brain as the eye is drawn into the composition.

Together by Elizabeth Chapman

This painting was painted early one morning from a still life set up as a severe storm was approaching. I was working with the flowers as the lights flickered.... and then.... the lights went out. I continued to paint by candlelight. I like they way the focus stayed on the two flowers, thus the title "Together".

Painting measures 8"x 8" on a canvas panel and could be mounted into a ready made frame or matted and framed under glass. Contac artist for purchasing information.

I have many sketched, but have been swamped the past few weeks with the "business" of art. Currently I'm preparing for my annual student art show, which is Sunday. I got away for a night this past weekend, and one of the scriptures the Lord showed me was "Since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it" Hebrews 4:1. I was reminded of a similar "word" that stood out in a recent Bible Study that I just completed. God gives us the strength for His schedule for us...not all of the other things we throw on top of that. I think we all can exhaust ourselves from time to time with our own agenda, but when it's God's agenda, we feel a good kind of tired at the end of the day...not emotionally, spiritually, and physically BANKRUPT.
